Rosy Underwing moth on Otmoor

I saw this moth land on a telegraph pole near Noke farm today and think it is a Rosy Underwing.

  1. It is indeed a Rosy Underwing Pete. They're nice moths.

  2. It is a Red Underwing. Rosy Underwing is a very rare vagrant from Central and Southern Europe with few mainland records.

  3. Oops! You are of course correct, it's a Red Underwing rather than Rosy. I'd been talking to someone about Rosy's that same morning and obviously had them on the brain!
